TIME TO START THE HARVEST - PARTNERS NEEDED! Will you Partner in the Great Harvest?
"There are now 195 million non-churched people in America, making Americaoneofthetopfourlargest“unchurched”nations in the world." (Dr. Dave Earley) September 20, 2009 Dear Fellow Laborer for Christ, The Round-Up has begun! I am writing to you about a great opportunity to reach the lost and advance the Kingdom right here in our own backyard. I have recently started RiverStone Cowboy Church in Princeton. Already I have seen the Lord do amazing things. I hope you have been blessed to be part of a church that teaches the Bible and cares about the lost and hurting. Sadly, many people don't have that opportunity or even know such churches or Christians exist. Even worse, many have been burned or shunned by less caring churches and Christians. These are our neighbors, friends and even relatives. The Lord has called me to reach these Lost and Strays for Christ.
I have been called, but now I need to be sent. Unfortunately, we can't all go and make a full time, front lines effort. But, you can send supplies. That is a great privilege! Paul tells us that both the supplier and the worker share in the harvest blessings.
Princeton needs the Light of the Gospel. The town is growing rapidly. Princeton is growing and this is great timing to start churches that can have a lasting influence.
Princeton needs YOU. It has been under a dark cloud for many years, always locals say. Princeton has a reputation as the "Drug Capital of Collin County". Drug abuse, teen pregnancy, poverty and all the effects of sin are obvious. Princeton desperately needs Jesus' healing touch.
Do you believe the power of Jesus Christ can transform an entire community and culture? If he can't transform one little Texas town, the USA is almost lost! The world is not far behind, and 2,000 years of Christianity will be lost. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT. I believe the Lord is raising up people who will go forward in the power of His Spirit and transform our world, one heart at a time.
Right place. Right time. Right person. The Apostle Paul had a passion for planting vibrant churches where they were needed. “Myambition has always been to preach the Good News wherethenameofChristhasneverbeenheard, ratherthan where a church has already been startedbysomeoneelse.” Romans 15:20 (NLT)
I know how he felt. I share Paul's burning passion for going to new fields and laying new foundations! The Lord has been designing me precisely for planting cowboy churches around the big city. As they say, "You can take the boy out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the boy." I grew up on 2,000 acres in Kansas. We worked as many as 1,000 head of cattle and drove tractors sunrise to midnight. Then I moved to the city, adapted to big city ways and got a Seminary degree. The Lord prepared me to start churches. In my secular career as an executive recruiter for the last 20 years I "hunted" people. I loved the thrill of the hunt. I have interviewed over 25,000 people. This has given me a unique insight and ability to pinpoint a persons motivations and needs. When you know what drives a person you can help them see how Jesus is what they have been looking for.
The Lord prepared me to speak to the Lost and Strays My first church plant, Narrow Trail Cowboy Church, was amazingly fruitful for the Kingdom. In four years I preached the gospel to over 4,000 people in that little church. Through outreach we witnessed to tens of thousands. Many came to faith, returned to the faith of their childhood, overcame drugs, were healed of major illness, had relationships restored, were baptized and much more.
It is time to "Go and make disicples". God has led me to start another Cowboy Church in Princeton. The Cowboy Church model has been tested and improved since the first Cowboy Church in 2001. Today over 20,000 people attend Texas Cowboy Churches. Many of them were truly unchurched before Cowboy Church came along.
I have chosen to work under theEvangelical Free Church of America (EFCA), (Chuck Swindoll's last denominational affiliation). The mission of the EFCA is to plant growing churches among all people groups and make disciples. The EFCA has an 87% new church start success rate due to the training, coaching and support system they provide.
RiverStone has a comprehensive discipleship plan. RiverStone's discipleship plan has been born out of Bible study, the latest church planting theories and best practices, and my own experience of discipleship and Church Planting. Since I left Narrow Trail last Easter I have been working full time (without income) to prepare myself and plan RiverStone well. The plan and people the Lord has led me to will ensure that RiverStone will effective and successful.
The vision I have been given is to build a church with an intentional process to make mature disciples. These disciples will become the leaders of ministries, missions and new church plants, thus creating a growing movement of church planting and mission outreaches.
YOU CAN HELP START THE RIVERSTONE DISCIPLE SHAPING PROCESS. I know you seek great returns on your investments. The world disappoints, but the Lord never fails! I know you always invest where the Spirit is producing a harvest. Together I am confident we will see a 100 fold return for the Kingdom.
Your partnership is the crucial next step to starting the RiverStone movement. The time has come to fund RiverStone and move into to the harvest fields. I have long been praying for the Lord to prepare the hearts and finances of Partners like you. I hope you will support RiverStone with a regular donation. Perhaps He has recently made the way for you to start with a much larger one time gift to get for startup seed funds.
As fellow disciples of Jesus Christ, I know you share my joy in what the Lord has done and is doing. I now look forward to sharing with you in the coming blessings through your prayer and financial partnership. In Christ our Savior,
John Myers Church Planter/ Pastor RiverStone Cowboy Church
P.S. Your Partnership is crucial right now to help RiverStone start making an impact on Princeton. Please prayerfully consider making a donation now. Please return the form on this document to let me know what form your partnership will take at this time, whether prayer or financial.
P.P.S. Do we do it for the "crowns" we will earn? I usually hear people humbly say, "I don't do it for rewards." That's great, but the crowns aren't for you! They are for you to lay at the feet of your Great King when he ascends the throne forever. Now I'm sure you want all the crowns you can get, right?
